Recession problems started under Bush

The current Republican mantra from House Minority Leader John Boehner, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, the rest of the congressional right and Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele is that we should now look forward and set the country on a new course.

They won’t talk about the incompetence and malfeasance of the George W. Bush administration (a time when most of the current Republican congressional leaders served), indicating that they won’t go along that path, and the only hint they give of their new modus operandi is to continue tax cuts for the ultrarich.

Instead they blame President Barack Obama for the continuing jobs situation when it is obvious that it is the Republican recession that is still dragging us down. They prefer not to talk of the recent past, but the adage is still true that “those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.”

Is it possible that in November a majority of the electorate will forget about those terrible eight Republican years when Bush was president?

I can’t believe we will doom ourselves by repeating those years.
